WELCOME! At Wineword Italy we are all about sharing the combined pleaures of good wine and good food. We aim to promote interest in and access to as many wines as possible, through wine reviews, giving background information on producers, vine varieties, locations etc, together with a range of interesting recommendations on accompanying dishes.
We also offer custom-designed English-speaking wine tasting tours to wine-producing areas for groups of wine enthusiasts. Ever fancied a relaxing trip through the Eugenian hills, or along the Prosecco wine trail? The choice is yours!
Additionaliy, we are fortunate to have the services of an Italian-qualified sommelier available on request, to help our guests decide on the best wine and food partnerships.
So, whether you just want a little advice on what to enjoy with that bottle at the back of the shelf or would prefer to wine and dine away a week or two on the sunny terraces of friendly cantinas, we can help!
Cin-cin! from Wineword Italy
Wineword Italy aims to promote the enjoyment of wine (and what to eat alongside) and to spread the Wineword to as many people as possible. It was started by Robin Brewster in response to several general enquiries from the UK about Italian wines. The original idea was simply to post some wine reviews online, but quickly grew to include organising personalised English-speaking guided tasting tours of wine 'cantine'.
To broaden accessibility to a range of wines, particularly those from smaller producers, we are compiling a constantly growing number of reviews. These are aimed at ordinary wine-lovers rather than specialists. We give a rating to each wine and provide background information on area of origin, interesting or unusual facts about the producers, together with hints for suitable food accompaniments.
SPARKLING WINE REVIEWS
RED WINE REVIEWS
Our principal aim is to encourage and enable ordinary people to understand and enjoy wine. For this reason we launched Wineword Tours. These are aimed at groups of wine enthusiasts and feature visits to selected 'cantine' either in one particular production area or to a number of customer-selected locations. The tours include the services of an English-speaking guide throughout with the optional addition of an Italian-qualified sommelier if requested. Tours can be arranged at any time of year and for periods from a half day single 'cantina' trip up to two weeks fully inclusive of meals and accommodation. E-mail us with your requests for more details.
